What is therapy and why should you seek it?
Therapy is an effective tool for diagnosing and treating mental health concerns. Often times, people let feelings fester which can cause physical symptoms. Our thoughts and feelings have a major impact on our daily lives and we often do not know how to navigate or process those challenges ourselves. We are expected to go to the doctor for physical exams to make sure we are healthy, why not make sure we are mentally healthy?

About Me
My name is Shamaine Ford and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who is very passionate about helping others reach their short and long-term goals. I became a therapist because I saw how important mental health was and the impact it had in my own community of Compton, CA where I grew up as a child.
I believe the human mind is like a flower. If you nurture it, it will grow. My therapy model is to look at any obstacles from a strength-based perspective and to build on those attributes. I have been in the social work field for 15 years helping children and families while being culturally competent.
I help clients from a Solution-Focus model to achieve their goals. Other evidence-based models I practice are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and teaching mindfulness.
Ultimately, the client is the driver and I am the passenger to assist with the navigation to reach the destination. I am looking forward to building the client/therapist relationship and helping you live your best life!
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a minor in Sociology from CSULA. Master’s Degree in Social Work with an emphasis on families and children, and a Pupil Personnel Services Credential in school social work from the University of Southern California (USC).

Seeking Comfort and Balance Therapy services all clients through Telehealth
Telehealth is the use of digital technology to provide therapy outside the traditional office setting. Telehealth services are in compliance with HIPAA, in which both client and therapist log on through a secured network via their laptop, tablet or mobile device.
